resolutions

I make New Year's resolutions. One of my friends said her resolution is to make no more of them. I have found them useful because when I write something down, it more often gets done. Some of mine from 2007 were to finish my blue and yellow quilt, read through the Bible, start a book club, and move. I did the first three of those, the last one-move-is now on my list for the upcoming year. Two new goals that I have for this year are to visit a state or country I have not been to and to memorize a couple of chapters of the Bible. Any suggestions on a place I should visit? I have been to almost all of the western U.S.A. so I would have to either go to the south or the east coast. What about ideas of what chapter to memorize?

For states to visit -- Maine or Florida. From Maine you can work your way down. The Everglades and the "keys" were fun in Florida (from what I remember).

Sometime in 2008 I would like to see a blog list of all the states you have visited.

Along with all the "repeat" resolutions like - eat healthier, exercise more, save more, spend less -- one of my resolutions is not to shop at Walmart at all this year. I can't stand that store -- they pay low wages, put the "mom and pop" stores out of business and I think they are just bad for our economy. Last year my resolution was not to spend more than $150 there (unfortunately my goal was not met).

You could go to Florida, I know others who are headed there this year (and soon).

As for the chapters, you may pick a one chapter book (Philemon, Jude, 2John, 3John) -- it sounds more impressive to say you have memorized a book of the Bible. I worked with someone who had memorized James.

Great goals for '08! By the way, what's the slogan? :)

I like Isaiah 55 because it's poetic. Julie and I memorized it in college, and I think I still remember most of it.

Proverbs 3 is a good one too, I thought as I was reading it this morning. Verses 3 and 4 in that chapter seem to be underquoted compared to verses 5 and 6, though they're equally good.

Psalm 1 and 121 are also great choices. Let me know what you decide, and I'll memorize it with you. Perhaps you could institute a memorization challenge.
